Assertion of Rights

I am me

I am me
A woman in my own right

I am me
Independent from you

I am me
Not a part of you

I am me
I belong to me

Not to you
Not even if you think so

I am me
A woman

My own woman
I am me.

:::
Pushover

Just because I am undemanding
Doesn’t mean I am a pushover
It doesn’t mean
I will let you push me over

I might be undemanding
But I am not a pushover
It doesn’t mean
You can push me over
Just because I care for you
Doesn’t mean you can take for granted
It doesn’t mean
I am a pushover

Just because I care for you
But I am not a pushover
I won’t allow you to push me over
Just because I care

Please remember when you try
To push me over
Please remember when you attempt
To take control

Please remember that
I am no pushover
I may allow you
To push me over
But bear in mind that
I am no pushover
Cross not my limits
Or you will find
I will be no one’s pushover
Certainly not yours.

:::
I belong to me

My heart belongs only to me
I belong only to myself

I love you
I know you love me
So why can’t you understand
Love does not confine
Love does not possess
Love does not make me yours
I belong only to me
Our love is wonderful
But you are still you
And I am still me
We are together
But our hearts belong only to ourselves
You belong to you
I belong to me
As it should be

But that does not mean that
I love you not
I treasure you not
I need you not

Why can’t you understand?
