Indulging Meself

Dear all,

Yours truly is bored. And so, she has decided to try out a little game to entertain herself. Of course, it is for yours truly’s benefit. Did you really think you mattered in a cold hearted bitch wannabe's world view? *dryly*

Got you there, didn't I? *grin*

Anyway, here’s the rules, which are fairly simple. Whether this game will be continued or not, will of course, depend on yours truly’s whims & on whether anyone bothers to do such a frivolous thing as to participate in it.

Rules:

Yours truly will start out with a topic/a dialogue/a poem, etc, and end off with a topic for the moment. The next person, who is frivolous enough or sporting enough or really, no justification needed, who wants to participate, must reply to the topic. It can be in the form of continuation of the dialogue, a new dialogue on the topic, a thesis on the topic, prose, poetry, etc, anything. The only rule is that it must be based on the topic and after having done so, the person must end off with the next topic.

For example, if yours truly started off with death, the next person wrote a poem on death and ended on winter or the idea of winter or something to that effect, the next topic will be winter. (Re: Next person please spell out topic of the moment.)

If this game gets off the ground, (which yours truly have doubts it will but nevertheless…) we will modify the rules as we go along. If any topic proves too tedious to go on, yours truly will give it a grace period of 3 days and then abandon it in favor of a new one. If this game never gets off the ground, then this shall be the one and last topic of the moment and the blog shall self-destruct in 48 hours.

Sheer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Game commences.
In a faraway time, in a faraway land, there exists a village that has its basis on the power of names. Names were the means of the identity of the people living in this village. And because names were so powerful, it is paradoxically both kept a secret and a form of currency. This meant that everyone in the village was bonded by the same secret. If you wanted to make a purchase, you revealed your name to the vendor. The revealing of one’s name was a mark of a bona fide customer. The vendor would on the basis of the revealing of the name, sell the goods to the revealer.
But the rule is, the name so revealed must never be revealed by the vendor to anyone else during the year. At the end of each year, vendors would collect their debts by whispering the names they have collected to the village headman, who will deduct the amount owing from the account of the person whose name was called. After collection, each person starts anew with a fresh slate. No vendor was to remember the names of people whose accounts were already cleared.
The village thus, functioned on a basis of absolute trust and absolute secrecy. Such is the power of names. Such is the power of honesty. For being honest became a part of the village’s ways. One who dishonors himself by misrepresenting his name was held in absolute disdain….But is it really possible to hold the power obtained from the knowledge of names yet remained honest in a village where names were the form of currency….?
Topic of the moment: Absolute Secrecy
but how is one to participate?
do we post the reply to the topic on our own blogs, or do we do it via (mass) email, or what?
*Wallflower: Hmm...good question. I'm inclined to say either on your blog or email or just on my comment blog. Wat I'll do is paste the comment & continue in my next blog...sounds workable? Or wat do you suggest? *grin*
*Starry: hah, like you're not blogging during this period? Anyway, the game might not get off so no big loss to you. If it does get moving, then use your *rest time to join in lah. *archly*c
*starry, you're welcome to call yourself watever you want except for your real name. *grin*
Since *starry said she has a great follow up for *wallflower, does that mean yours truly should not reply to *beauty...hmm...
